Introducing Robbie Schneider
We are delighted to tell you that from the 1st April 2010, Robbie Schneider has joined our team. He is passionate about making a difference for Special Risk cases and learning the skills that Brian Klee has developed over the past 20 years to ensure that our business thrives into the future.
He tells us that he was raised on cabbage, weet-bix, salmon on toast and insurance - his mother and stepfather both having served the profession. After spending 12 years in hospitality world, he says he finally saw the light and returned to New Zealand to continue the family's legacy.
Robbie has been working with Meridan Brokers for the last 6 years, is an enthusiastic member of AXA's AAA, attended MDRT's 2008 Annual Meeting in Toronto and was Wellington's Branch Chair for IFA during 2008-09. He has two boys aged 7 and 8 who are active in karate, swimming and soccer - before rugby he hopes, being a keen rugby man himself and managing Marist St Pats Colts team for the last two years.
Failure to Survive Insurance
Do you know someone who would like to insure someone else and whose failure to survive over a defined period would cause a direct financial loss as a consequence of them not not performing or completing their duties? Examples could be: High Court Judge in charge of a very lengthy court case, an Entertainer scheduled to perform at a public event, a Director or Producer at the start of a lengthy film production, etc.
We are able to provide insurance for such a Special Risk event and interestingly, the insured person does not need to know about it.
Duty of Disclosure and Compliance
A 'must read' for all advisers, is an article written by Sue Laing titled 'Don't Rock the Boat', which appeared in the 7th September edition of Financial Alert. It describes a real life story about managing clients who demand premium-shopping, taking risks with replacement cover and 'covering backsides' by obtaining things in writing.
I encourage every Adviser to read this at: http://financialalert.co.nz/insurance/cover-story-dont-rock-the-boat
Problems With an Insurance Claim?
Over the recent years we have been invited to assist claimants to get a satisfactory conclusion with an insurance claim. The most recent has been a Financial Planner who had suffered a heart attack and other complications and after 8 frustrating months of no Income Protection payments, asked us for assistance - his energy had been totally sucked dry. We achieved a settlement after 17 hours of our time, for which he happily paid us, when at one point the insurer had closed the file.
Because of our underwriting expertise, product knowledge and industry reputation, if you have client who is utterly frustrated that he wants external professional assistance, we welcome your or his call.
This is a professional service and an hourly fee will be charged, or a fee for service based a percentage of the benefit payable.
